Buffalo, NY - A Winter Destination
During the last few weeks of winter, I spent a few days in Buffalo, New York. I had zero expectations, but looked forward to the trip and ended up having one of the best times of my life in what I consider Yankee territory. Winter in NY hits differently. The cold is blistering cold and the snow sticks to your eyelashes. Winds will chill you to your bones watch out for ice patches on the road. All of that said, I enjoyed my time there. There was even some time to visit Niagara Falls in Canada, eh?
Here’s what I like about Buffalo: Wegman’s grocery store is awesome. I had handmade sushi made in front of me. Tim Horton’s would put Starbucks out of business if it were in the South. Downtown nightlife is my scene, and I would spend every week visiting some part of Ontario that I hadn’t been to before.
I was told that Buffalo was a steel town and you certainly get the vibe while being there. I’m not sure what goes on during the other seasons, but I know that hockey is a pretty big deal and I enjoyed watching a few games (and a random roller derby match) during my visit.
Buffalo was not what I expected but in the best possible way.
