What I’m Packing for Ireland
If you’re reading this blog then you know my secret vacation spot before anyone else. I’m going to Ireland! I haven’t traveled out of the country since 2016 and if you read my latest travel bucket list, then you’ll know that Ireland has been on my list for a long time. We’ve been planning this trip for several months and I have seven days before I board my flight for a week-long vacation on the Emerald Isle. As a Type A, I struggled with figuring out what to pack in my suitcase and carry-on for weeks, but I think I have a general list of must-have items that are for sure coming with me. So if you’re reading this blog and it’s your first time going to Ireland and you don’t know what to pack, keep reading!
We’re arriving in Ireland on the day of Daylight Savings and will be returning to the United States on the first day of spring. Needless to say that we’re in the transition season. Based on my research and from other bloggers who’ve traveled to Ireland, the key is to dress in layers and be prepared for all kinds of weather.
Passport and vaccination card holder. This was a little bit of a splurge for me. I had a passport holder and it started tearing, so I bought this one from Amazon. I really like it because it holds my passport, credit cards (if desired), and vaccination card.
Rain essentials. I’m not crazy, we’re going to an island and will be driving from coast to coast, so I’m packing a light rain jacket (maybe even a raincoat) to make sure that I’m covered. I’m also packing an umbrella that can fit in my purse, moisture-wicking socks, and a pair of rain boots. If you have water-resistant shoes then they’ll work too!
Sweaters and knit tops. These items are easy to layer and not hard to pack if placed in packing cubes.
Jewelry. Since we’re going to Ireland as a celebration trip, I thought it’d be nice to have some jewelry but not too expensive. I packed three pairs of earrings from Ana Luisa, a carbon-neutral jewelry company. The pieces are delivered in separate pouches for easy packing and I packed them in my carry-on for safe keeping.
Hats, scarves, and gloves. It’s still winter so I expect strong winds and cold weather.
Type G adapter plug. Ireland uses a different type than the rest of Europe so pay attention to the plug adapter and the voltage. I bought ours from Amazon.
Sparkie. Sparkie is my DJI Spark drone. There are rules for flying a drone in Ireland that I’ll get into later. I want to experience it and then tell you all about it! I packed it in its kit which fits in my carry-on.
Camera equipment. I got a Sony ZV-1 camera and a vlogging selfie stick for Christmas and I can’t wait to use them.
Electronics. My AirPods and iPad are the only portable items that I’m willing to take and they fit nicely in my camera backpack which I’ll be using as my personal item. I also bought new 64GB micro-SD cards specifically for this trip that I will place in my SD card holder in my camera backpack.
Underwear, bras, PJs. Self-explanatory.
